This mermaid painting captures a moment of surprise and an attempt to remember what actually happened. The mermaid is no longer very young. She allowed herself a moment of carefree freedom, and when everything became quiet again, she noticed that a part of her tail was missing.
 
The painting shows exactly that moment — the pause when she looks at her tail and tries to understand how it happened.
 
In this work I am interested in the balance that each of us searches for in life. Sometimes we allow ourselves more freedom than we planned. And then comes the moment of reflection and the realization that every decision carries consequences.
 
The painting was created with acrylic on canvas and belongs to my series of contemporary figurative paintings, where fairy-tale characters become metaphors for human experiences.
