Can you call yourself an artist without graduating from an Academy of Fine Arts? Do you need a diploma to create art that someone will fall in love with?
This question comes up often — especially at a time when art is becoming increasingly accessible and diverse. In my opinion, the answer is: yes, absolutely you can.
For me, it's not the piece of paper, but the emotions you're able to convey. It's people's reactions, their being moved, their wanting to hang the painting on their own wall, or simply — the feeling that something inside them was stirred.
A contemporary artist isn't just someone with a diploma, but someone who can speak through images. Often, what matters more is:
a presence on social media,
That said — I won't hide the fact that I did graduate from art schools. Art has been with me my whole life, so naturally I followed that path. I graduated from the College of Decorative and Applied Arts, and from the Academy of Fine Arts in Monumental Art.
But I know that today, even without a degree, you can be an artist if you follow the voice of your heart. Art isn't a profession. It's a way of seeing the world.
